LODGING DIRECTORY
At Ocean Shores the opportunities for a perfect getaway don't begin and end at the beach. There are delightful galleries and shops, a tasty medley of restaurants, an 18-hole PGA rated championship golf course, miniature golf, go-karts, horseback riding, boat, moped and bike rentals, and a range of accomodations to fit every budget.
Enjoy strolling along six miles of wide-open sandy beaches which extend nearly 20 miles from Ocean Shores to Moclips. A favorite site is Ocean Shores' North Jetty, where you will enjoy crashing waves, terrific views of the shipping channel, Westport accross the bay, and wonderful wildlife.
Ocean Shores is one of the Northwest's premier sites for bird watching excursions. Damon Point (also known as Protection Island) is verey popular and is a well known nesting site for the Snowy Plover. You'll also see Brown Pelicans, Peregrine Falcons, Heron and dozens of other species.
Boat launches are available at various park locations throughout Ocean Shores. The primary ramp facility into the fresh waterways is located on Duck Lake at North Bay Park, just off Albatross Street. Ocean bound boats can launch at the Ocean Shores Marina at the southern end of Pt. Brown Ave.
Located two miles north of the Ocean Shores city gates, the Quinault Beach Resort Casino offers a variety of cuisinal treats and gambling opportunities rivaling the highbrow style and luxury of Las Vegas.
The Ocean Shores-Westport passenger only ferry, the El Matador, can accomodate 70 passengers per trip. The crossing time varies between 20 - 40 minutes.
Surf fishing is best near the North Jetty and on Damon Point State Park (near the marina). Crabbing is best near the marina at Damon Point. Fresh water fishing is available on Duck Lake and all canals throughout Ocean Shores. Bottom fishing, tuna, salmon, and halibut fishing charters are offered in season.
Ocean Shores' North Bay Park on Albatross and Chance-A-La-Mer sports a softball field, tennis court, boat launch, covered picnic area and public restrooms. Community parks offer horseshoes, volleyball, and basketball courts, football, soccer, and baseball fields, barbeque pits and restrooms.
Whale watching in Ocean Shores offers opportunities to view the Harbor's pod of resident gray whales, or take part in the exciting what watching tours available in season.
The winter months provide the best storm watching. An excellent vantage point is the North Jetty, located at the southern tip of Ocean Shores, but be careful; winter storms can bring 25 foot seas and high winds which can be very dangerous. Monster waves create a powerful roar which is enjoyed and can be heard throughout Ocean Shores.
