The only crowds you'll find at Lake Chelan are in the forest. We're crowded with towering ancient trees ... cloaked with layers of mosses & lichens ... carpeted with verdant sword ferns, delicate flowers, & copious mushrooms. Waterfalls tumble over shiny rocks, rushing ever downward to nourish the life all around.
As forest meets shore, Lake Chelan's deep blue waters are revealed that spread across six square miles and plunge to depths of 250 feet. Breathe deep. Lake Chelan has some of the freshest air you'll find in the United States.
Wildlife abounds. Elk herds can frequently be seen roaming the valley and bald eagles soar overhead. Loons sing their ancient song in the summer months, while trumpeter swans find fertile wintering grounds at Lake Chelan.
Hiking is accessible year round on the many trails in the area. Starting on the shore of Lake Chelan you can begin your adventure of discovering the rain forest.
Camp on the lakeshore in one of several campgrounds or stay in a cozy room or cabin available with lakefront views. Bicycle the roads of this quiet lakeside community, or venture beyond the pavement. Swim in the refreshing cool summer waters of the Lake.
Canoe or kayak on a still, quiet morning, or sail on a windy afternoon. Dont' forget your binoculars for outstanding bird watching.
Golf at the Driving Range near the edge of Lake Chelan, or venture up the Chelan River valley by car for unparalleled wildlife viewing.
Fish world class steelhead rivers, or catch cutthroat trout in the lake. Go with a guide, by drift boat, to great fishing holes on the Chelan River, or take the family on a tour of the Chelan Indian Nation Fish Hatchery on the west end of Lake Chelan.
At Lake Chelan you will find solitude and astounding beauty. Dining at one of Lake Chelan's fine restaurants is a great way to finish off the day. Visit the most spectacular and varied rain forest on the Olympic Peninsula.
