Colville, a community of 5,00, is the business, educational, and population center of Stevens County. It is also the center of medical, cultural, timber and manufacturing activities. Colville is Stevens County's County Seat. The area's economy is based on timber, agriculture, mining, recreation and tourism.
Colville's cultural offerings include concerts, plays, arts and crafts shows and musicals. Colville's distinct four season's offers four completely different ways of experiencing Colville's beauty year 'round.
Spring in Colville is for wildflowers, fishing, picking mushrooms, back packing and planting.
Summer in Colville is for boating, swimming, golfing, hiking, Hoop d' Gras basketball, horseback riding, the PCRA Rodeo, and teh Rondevous Celebration.
Fall in Colville is for hunting, harvesting, Autumn foliage and the Northeastern Washington Fair.
Winter in Colville is for skiing, snowmobiling, cultural pursuits, Christmas shopping, and riding the mule-drawn trolley.
On a hill north of downtown Colville is the Keller Heritage center, consisting of the museum, a lookout tower, pioneer machinery, Colville's first school house, a farmstead, a trapper's cabin, the Keller House, a blacksmith shop, and a pioneer sawmill.
Colville has 6 parks including the Dean Vaagen Softball Complex, the Rotary Baseball Field, Keller Heritage Center, City Hall Park, Heritage Court and the 18-acre "Yep Kanum" park that includes a swimming pool, hoseshoe pits, tennis courts, a sand volleyball court, picnic tables, play equipment and sheltered picnic areas.
The Jeff Weeman Memorial and the Spenser Memorial have provided six full-size outdoor basketball courts, a skateboard and in-line skating park.
