The Columbia River Gorge is a beautiful place for unforgettable outdoor enjoyment, where there's something for everyone.
The Gifford Pinchot National Forest covers about 80 percent of Skamania County. The forest is rich in natural resources and recreational opportunities waiting to be explored.
Year 'round recreation in the Gifford Pinchot includes camping, hiking, fishing in lakes and streams, wildlife viewing, kayaking, and rafting, mushrooming, snowmobiling, waterfall viewing, mountain biking, huckleberry picking, exploring wilderness areas, spelunking the Ice Caves and Ape Caves and cross-country skiing at Old Man Pass ski area.
The Wind River Ranger Station can provide maps and special use permits for recreational opportunities.
Miles of groomed cross country ski trails offer access to a winter wonderland.
